Benefits to traveling solo

The younger version of Anatoly Nirshberg never wanted to travel anywhere by himself because he cherished every memory he got to spend with his loved ones. The Anatoly Nirshberg who exists now though, he doesn’t mind travelling solo. It can be scary venturing out into an entirely foreign place by yourself, but the truth is there are some benefits that you just can’t get while travelling with others.

Sightseeing doesn’t take days. Let’s be honest, whenever you travel with friends or family, there are always certain times where some people want to spend more time at a site than you want or need to. I can’t count the number of times when I heard someone say in a stern voice, “Anatoly Nirshberg, get over her and take one more picture right now!” and groaned a little. You don’t have to go anywhere you don’t have interest in seeing or compromise. By going by yourself, you have all the time you’d like to do all the things you’d like to. No compromise necessary.

You can maintain your habits. Once again, the lack of need for compromise when you’re travelling solo is absolutely blissful. You can wake up whenever you need to without having to wake anyone else up. You can eat whatever food you want, especially if you’re an avid traveller with an inclination for healthy eating. Most people disregard the health repercussions of their food choices. Most people just want to eat good food. The truth is if you’re a person who lives and maintains a healthy lifestyle like me, it’s a lot easier to do so when you’re by yourself and not getting outvoted on what to eat.

You can enjoy a good book… or five. I’m a huge bookworm. Since I was the age of five, I loved to bury my nose in a book. Travelling poses one of the best opportunities to relax and to me that is synonymous to reading. I have always loved the idea of sitting outside in some beautiful new place with a book to read or notebook to write. Without any companions, there is no obligation to talk the entirety of the trip. You can be absorbed in your own thoughts and world without restraint. It’s quite beautiful.

Romances in foreign places. You’ve heard all of the stories about romances with strangers in beautiful new places. It’s one of those stories that come out of movies or books, but they are for real. When you aren’t obligated to stick to your friends or family, you are more open to talking to new people and who knows what can come out of it? You can explore new horizons, both romantically and sexually, when you’re all by yourself with a charming stranger in a new place.
